The name Tugun (pronounced Choogun and locally known as Choogs), is derived from indigenous dialect and means “the breaking waves”. Since the recent opening of the newsworthy Tugun Bypass, the Village and suburb have reverted to a tranquil hub of coffee shops, cafes, Hotel, convenience stores, pharmacy, newsagency, almost every service to make life easy and comfortable.

The Tugun Surf Life-Saving Club, centrally located and right on the beach, is a popular spot for socialising, enjoying a bit of people-watching and the millionaire views along the patrolled surf beach.

Sentosa is just a few minutes stroll from all of these facilities and Coolangatta International and local Airport is a handy 5 minutes away.
